Great Blender September 6, 2010 Victorian Girl (Midwest) I read all the reviews, but was persuaded to purchase based on my neighbor's experience (hers is still going strong after 10 years, and her parents' after 20). I have not mastered all the techniques for raw food dishes but have the green smoothie down! As to the comments about being hard to clean, that is likely true for sticky or very thick items. Someone should make a silicone scraper with a bit of an l-shape at the end to get under the blades. For smoothies, cashew cream and raw chocolate puddings it has been no problem to clean, so no complaints here. I am learning little tricks, like making sure there is enough in the blender to blend smoothly, or to use the tamper, or vary the speed. Raw food cookbooks that state the speed for the Vitamix are much more helpful than those that don't. However, I would purchase it again, it works very well and is fast. I purchased one for my mother, and she is also using hers at least twice a day. We are converts! The book Green Smoothie Revolution has also been helpful.
Great Blender! August 23, 2010 Dan C. (Florida, United States) The Vita-Mix is a well made heavy-duty blender, quite large and noisy and worth the price. This is not a regular blender. It turns fruits and veggies into amazing smoothies. It comes with a DVD and a cookbook with great recipes. I highly recommend it!
Smoothie Heaven August 2, 2010 Joe I use this blender every single day, at least once, and have for over a year now. This blender makes the smoothest smoothies I have yet to taste. A bannana, some yogurt, milk, frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries (and a little soy protein poweder, if you like) make a quick and healthy smoothie. Soups are easy and do become as hot as you like in this blender.
There is a reason that every smoothie shop or serious restaurant has a vita-mix; they are the best!
11 Years old Mix July 7, 2010 Mr. Scottie D. Payne Jr. 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Thought I would chime in.... I first saw this product in 1976 in NYC and wanted one bad! I did not get my first one until 1979, and when I moved to Cali, my best friend sole it, I'm sure he enjoyed it!
Got my current model in 1999. It fell into the sink full of dish water, TG it was not plugged in. After a week of drying out, it came back on like nothing happened. Something happened, I had to send it back, and Vita Mix had no trouble locating me as a owner with a warranty after about five years if I remember correctly. The turn around time was very quick to get it back to me.
Today I ordered the CIA Professional series in black, because I have a new kitchen with all black wonderful appliances. My kitchen will look beautiful with this new Vita Mix that will always be on my counter.
I just hope the company has not changed, they stand by their product.
I will NEVER forget the first milk shake I made with my Vita Mix! It is truly a sin to make food that taste this good with this machine :-))
Burned out on me as well... May 7, 2010 W. Bell (New York) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Well I bought this one back in March '10 after seeing a similar device on a TV infomercial and reading reviews for that one where people were saying the Vitamix was the best.
I appreciated the fact this one is supposed to be "Professional" and has a strong motor and all but in our case while just making frozen fruit smoothies, the motor stopped leaving the device with a bad electrical burn smell!
You would think the motor would turn off BEFORE allowing it to get hot enough to smell the way it does now. Eventually it came back on and she finished her smoothie.
I worry now what kinds of toxins we may be ingesting with the electrical burn smell the thing continually gives off!
Now today, it stopped again - have to figure out how to send this thing back for a replacement.
Very disappointed!
