Its adjustable thermostat ranges from 250 to 375 degrees F, and its bright red indicator light signals when the oil has reached the desired temperature so food cooks no longer than necessary. A viewing window lets you track progress without opening the cover, and an included wire basket with an exterior handle means you can prevent spatters by lowering food into hot oil with the lid down. I owned a similar type unit years ago, and they've improved upon the design since then. It fry's up chicken drummettes so fine with Dixie Fry coating mix.
The cleanup is quick and easy. As with all home fryers, you have to work with the drop in oil temperature when food is immersed into the oil. Many ppl use the double fry method, where you cook at 275F, then remove food and increase the temp to 375F and finish up the frying for crispiness. Whatever method you use will yield good results.
I looked at many models of fryers and chose this one, and I'm glad I did! I chose the black model because my previous white fryer got oily dirty looking over time.
This one is a no brainer buy...no wonder it gets high ratings. THUMBS UP.
NOTE: There's no real difference between the "Professional" CoolDaddy and the regular one. They have the same skew number and the changes are merely cosmetic (white buttons instead of black). It's the same model, wattage, etc.
Oh ya...there's a replaceable charcoal filter pad. You can buy this filter material on the net in sheets and cut it to fit. SAVING$

I've used it about ten times so far and love it. It heats up quickly, cooks great, removable pot is easy to clean. the fact that you can close the lid and then lower the basket is the best. It's safer and there is no oil splatter getting on everything to clean up. The filter also helps with odors but does not eliminate them. You should be carefull opening the top, put your fingers on top of lid and push the button. I exspect the spring action will lesson over time. The only reason I dd'nt give 5 stars is that I have not had it very long. Only time will tell about it's durability. No complaints yet, and for $40.00, no shipping and no tax from Amazon.com, you can't get it anywhere close, And beleave me I tried.

shipping for new air filters cost more than the filters on amazon's (outside vendor)

I am so HAPPY I didn't go with the smaller Fry Baby that we were considering! This unit stays hot enough to fry food at the correct temps which produces crisp fried foods! The cool exterior is the best! Only praise...no complaints!
I am now making "Honey Walnut Shrimp" which is BETTER then the local Chinese restaurant serves!

I bought this recently, and was amazed with the outcome. The basket is very convinient because it allows you to close the lid before lowering your food into the oil. For once, I fried food and didn't make any nasty splatters, or stink up the whole appartment. It was worth the money and so much cheaper here at Amazon. It also makes the best gift for new brides, or college students. The only false claim was that it's "cool to the touch". The body gets really hot, so make sure your have nothing near that can melt.
Thank you Presto...this is a masterpiece. I definitely recommend this product.

I don't like fry at home because I am very sensitive in smell. This little thing is a good news. It is not hot outside when frying. I really like this fryer, it does the job and is easy to clean. Also, I like the fact that it's not too heavy. It is very safe than cooking pot. But, it uses a lot of oil.
