This is an awesome processor. It is easy to operate and clean and is very quiet.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing product   August 29, 2010

Overall, I'm disappointed with this KitchenAid food processor. If you want to chop small amounts using the small bowl, all of the bowls must be used, stacked within each other (and often get dirty in the process). So the reality is, in 1 1/2 years I've used this no more than 10 times total.

Here's the clincher - a few weeks ago, I attempted to use it and the food chute plunger(?) was sticking. I realized that small plastic pieces were breaking off within the handle. The safety feature prevents you from using the food processor unless the plunger can be pushed into the chute. So the product is in effect disabled. I contacted KitchenAid Customer Service, and their response is buy another bowl because I'm no longer within the warranty period. I'm honestly not sure that I want to chance buying another bowl, just to experience the same defect after a few uses.

I'm really disappointed that KitchenAid seems to be unwilling to own up to what appears to be a defect. It seems other reviewers have reported the same problem.

Note that I have a KitchenAid mixer, and have been extremely pleased with this product. The food processor just doesn't live up to the KitchenAid reputation.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!!!   August 25, 2010

I love this food processor. The outside is all enclosed and easy to clean. The only flaw is the weight. It has a large motor so I guess it has to be heavy but it is HEAVY.

2 out of 5 stars Parts did not last, plus it leaks   July 10, 2010

After much research on Amazon and comparing the KitchenAid with Cuisinart, I went for the 12 cup KitchenAid, and bought one for our daughter in law too. From the outset I did not like the fact that the bowl leaked easily (a problem I'd never encountered with my previous "cheapo" food processor). I've had the KitchenAid now for a little over two years and have probably used it a dozen times, and unfortunately the plastic lid, the work bowl handle, and the feed tube pusher have all developed serious cracks, and the handle is about falling off. I chatted online with a KitchenAid rep who informed me the warranty was only good for one year, and that it would cost me about $80 to replace these parts. She said my problems are unusual, and suggested that washing parts in the dishwasher might have caused this. I understood the parts to be dishwasher safe, and for 20 years I had washed my previous FP parts in the dishwasher and never had any problems.

In the end I decided not to reinvest in this machine, so I retired it in favor of a new 14 cup Cuisinart. I got it home and immediately tested it out with a huge batch of (potentially leaky) gazpacho. It worked great, and without the drips I'd suffered with the KitchenAid. The Cuisinart is billed as "dishwasher safe" but just in case I'm planning to handwash the plastic parts. But if I succumb to the dishwasher, at least with the Cuisinart there is a 3-5 year warranty.

In summary, I was disappointed with the leakiness of the KitchenAid, and really dismayed that the plastic parts cracked and were ruined after such a short time and so little use. Now I've got a useless base and attachments on my hands--what a waste.

I think Cuisinart is probably the legitimate winner of the Food Processing category, just as KitchenAid takes the title for its stand mixers. I also have a mini Cuisinart FP that is terrific.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent value and a great workhorse for the kitchen   July 8, 2010

I bought the KitchenAid 760 processor to replace an old Cuisinart. I'd read reviews of both brands but ultimately went with this one, and I am glad I did. The machine comes with a large assortment of accessories; some seem a little superfluous, such as the ten cup chef's bowl, but if they don't add to my cost, I am certainly not complaining. I enjoyed having the storage box for the blades included.

The processor itself is large and heavy, but not overly so. We've used it for salsa, sauces, gravies and dough and have been impressed with its speed, quiet operation, and toughness. Everything washes up fine in the dishwasher but I recommend washing the blades by hand. It's super sturdy and handles everything we put in it with ease. Salsa takes under five minutes!

All in all, I highly recommend the KFPW760 to anyone who needs a full-size processor. Plus, I saved almost $100 over the comparable Cuisinart and got more for my money!
