Not So Good With Toast July 23, 2010 PamJH (VA) This is a very attractive little appliance but if you want actual toast then maybe you should skip it. Slices of bread constantly get stuck because I think the top portion is really made for bagels. It also produces hard toast, no matter what the setting. It looks nice with my stainless steel appliances but I think Hamilton needs to tweek the design a bit. I rated it 3 stars mainly because it's stylish, but if given a choice now I wouldn't purchase this model.
A very good toaster July 6, 2010 readsalot It makes great toast...nice and even. I havem't used the oven feature yet, but I like that I have it if I need it without having to have a huge one taking up space on my counter top. You can't cook a turkey in it, but then why would I ever want to cook a turkey in a toaster oven?
Not very happy July 4, 2010 x42384 (Texas) I have been using this toaster for about six months, and have given up on it. Just like many other reviews that have a poor rating based on same problems.
1. Thin waffles will jam up. You have to unplug the unit, and use a fork to pry your waffle out of the cage.
2. When in toast mode, why does the bottom burner come on, especially when the tray is inserted? No purpose and wastes power.
3. The two metal cages that old the bread/waffles are incorrectly designed. They are not straight (up/down), but at a angle. It is suppose to hold your pieces, but because of the angled design, it will never hold thin pieces. (just look down from the top and you will see)
4. When you close the door, the tray sometimes jams at the hooks, so you have to sometimes wiggle the tray to close the door.
5. Toasts shoots up. Always have to pick things up off the floor.
6. Toast take alot longer to cook compared to more simpler toasters.
7. Square thick waffles never cook evenly. Burns on one side 100% of the time when set to "3" setting.
Some of the problems I can live with, but the constant jamming of pieces is unacceptable. Try yourself. Get a box of Eggo waffles (round), and first let them thaw for 30 min. Insert them from top, (toast mode). After 30 seconds, you will see the waffles start to curl and jam up. The two metal cages is suppose to prevent the curling, but because the cages and not parallel, they never hold up the waffles. Unreal!!
On the good side, this toaster is good for cooking pizza.
I didn't realize that I could post a video, but would be happy to post it if someone doesn't believe the problems. Overall, it has been more problematic than what it is designed to do.
Too small!! June 30, 2010 Blessed I never used this toaster oven. It appeared to be fine for toast, but I could not put a baked potato inside. It was too small to hold a baked potato or a French roll. It is only good for flat items like french fries or bread. What a disappointment! Clever idea to have the toaster on the top, but it is not at all practical. Nothing in the product description gave that information, which is pretty important to me. For us, the search for a decent toaster oven goes on!
Great little toaster/toaster oven! June 26, 2010 Rita M. Montgomery (Dubuque, IA USA) Our whole family enjoys using this combo toaster/toaster oven. Great to heat up rolls or pizza, yet takes up little space on the counter. Highly recommended!
