LOVE it July 29, 2010 AmazonFan (Los Angeles) This thing is AWESOME. We save so much money now by buying the uncut meat from Costco and slicing it ourselves (price is so much less than the presliced meat from grocery store).
It is so versatile too....we use it to prepare several dishes (well...the wife does the prep including the cutting - I do the eating haha).
Only con is it's difficult to clean (so I've been told lol).
Not good for slicing bacon July 28, 2010 N. Balderson (E. Idaho) I ordered this because I hoped it would be good for slicing fresh cured bacon or side pork, but alas it is not. As others have said it leaves a trailing edge of meat that has to be cut off. I had to cut my slab of bacon in half width wise because it was too long for the slicer to work. I had short bacon instead of the normal length kind, which was ok. I also partially froze the meat prior to slicing to help firm it up.
I tried it on a loaf of wheat bread I made and it did not do a very good job of slicing it. It left the edge raggedy.
I will be returning it because it does not meet my needs. I am disappointed 'cause I really wanted it to work.
MY FAV NEW TOY! July 26, 2010 Bilynelson (Texas) People said this was a strong purchase, I believed them, and I am glad. I haven't been disappointed by it yet. Cuts are straight and consistant in veggies as well as the meat I bought it to slice. Tomatoes sliced thin as paper sure go a long way for making sandwiches!
meat slicer July 13, 2010 Cindy Works as promised, cuts very well. The only drawback is the cleaning of the machine after use. It takes awhile to get it all apart and cleaned and back together again.
Very good slicer July 7, 2010 RIK (PA) This is my 2nd slicer, I won't mention the brand of the first lousy one. This slicer worked very well right out of the box. I also purchased the smooth blade to use for slicing meats. I only use the smooth blade for any type of cold cuts and I am able to get very thin slices on all types of cheeses and meats. It takes a little patience to get "paper thin" slices for things like prosciutto but it is possible by taking it slow. The adjustment knob is much better than those that use a lever, and dis-assembly/cleaning is a snap. The only issue I have is that the rubber feet do not hold very well on my formica counter, but I just put a book or pot behind the unit to keep it from sliding into the wall and I'm good to go. For the price, you can't beat this slicer.
