The first electric rice cookers seemed miraculous--perfect rice in minutes with a minimum of fuss. Now, happily, the second generation is here. Equipped with a micro-computerized fuzzy logic temperature control system, Zojirushi's new rice cooker not only knows when rice is done, but cooks to different levels of doneness as well. Want softer rice for making croquettes or harder rice for fried rice? No problem. This 10-cup cooker also has controls for brown rice, white rice, porridge, or grits. You can even make one-dish meals like vegetable rice or jambalaya--the recipes are included. Best of all, the cooker keeps rice warm for a long time--up to 8 hours--without drying out. To save time, you can use the Quick Cook option. The nonstick inner cooking pan conveniently lifts out for adding ingredients, and the electric cord is retractable into the base.
