flawless white rice July 20, 2010 Maki Michii (mission viejo, ca) It is hands down the best rice I have ever had. Well worth the money. I can't speak for its brown rice abilities but I don't doubt it would do a great job. High quality construction. Yes it says made in Japan for those wondering.
Great product July 16, 2010 Henry Gonzales (California) It's been said a a lot already. You get what you pay for. Saying is perfect for this cooker. I use it three times a week, and have yet to have a bad batch. My wife laughs at the start and end chimes, but I like it (you can turn it off by the way). I digress. Easy to use, and easy to clean. Don't think, just buy it. You can thank me later.
really solid rice cooker July 13, 2010 T. Wall This is a very solid rice cooker. We upgraded from a Panasonic rice cooker because after three years, the bowl started to delaminate. This has a much higher quality bowl and does a fantastic job cooking rice, risotto, polenta--all grains we have tried cook great. The timer is a great feature. Well worth the money if you eat a lot of cooked grains and the bigger size accommodates a family w/ leftovers.
A RICE COOKER SKEPTIC NO MORE! July 12, 2010 Sondra G. Oravetz (Maine) Never having owned a rice cooker until about 12 years ago (a Hamilton Beach 10 cup model I found new at a salvage store which is now history)I never thought a rice cooker could do any better job than I could on the stove...boy was I wrong! My first rice cooker was a very inexpensive one that I used to make rice for my dogs weekly to mix with their pressure cooked chicken and veggies and an occasional pot for my husband and I. Not until the old unit gave up and started to burn every pot of rice did I go on a hurt for a replacement never figuring I would spring for such an expensive one. Paying this much for a rice cooker seemed insane but I figured why not give it a try. I am astounded with the versatility of this unit and the near perfection of the end results.
I also bought the "Ultimate Rice Cooker" cookbook which has been a wonderful addition to my 500 cookbook library! I now make even risotto in this baby, which took a little tweaking with the water/chicken broth amounts but now we enjoy risotto with shrimp regularly along with the best cooked brown rice going.
I've had this unit about 6 months now and I can say it is handsome, easy to clean, silent except when you start it and the little jingle that plays when finished and it cooks to perfection and I use it many times per week. I also like the larger size capacity even though I rarely make more than 6 cups of anything at one time. With the added space at the top I can use the old steamer basket from my other rice cooker that fits perfectly in the top with the lid closed which also gives me the added bonus of steaming meats, fish or veggies during the last half hour or so of cooking....everything cooked in one pot at one time! I do not hesitate to highly recommend this rice cooker.
BEST BEST July 10, 2010 james I JUST ATE MY FIRST RICE OUT OF THIS COOKER AND TRUST ME ITS THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEEST
