Good product for a good price February 23, 2010 minibus (Seattle, WA USA) I received this waffle iron for Christmas, as I wanted to make a bigger variety of waffles, and healthier waffles than the brand name ones. I simply use a prepackaged whole grain waffle mix, following the instructions, and then add grated veggies or blueberries. It does take a large amount of mix (about 1 1/2 cups) for each set of 4 waffles, but the waffles are SO much more substantial than the ones in the grocery store freezer! I put the setting on "1" to cook, then cool and freeze the waffles and they are ready for my kids to eat in the morning. My kids love them and ask for the "new waffles" all the time.
I recommend that you spray the iron, both top and bottom, each time with a little cooking spray. No, it's not strictly necessary, but it just makes getting the cooked waffles out so much easier! I also recommend making the batter a little thinner, so it's easy to spread out over the bottom of the iron when you pour it in.
I am NOT a great cook, but this waffle iron is easy to use. I've made several batches now over the last couple of months, and have had no problem with it.
Well satisfied customer February 17, 2010 John Holsberger After researching all the different waffle iron units out there, I settled on the name brand that seemed to have the best reputation for quality, and, boy, am I glad I did. It consistently produces 4 beautiful waffles at a time in about 2 minutes, although I haven't used a stop watch for verification. By putting a very thin coating of oil on the plates prior to the initial heating, the waffles are easily lifted from the iron with no sticking. It only took the first session of waffle making to figure out how much batter to pour to prevent spilling out the sides, and even at that, the batter had dried by the time the session was over and was easily wiped off with a damp cloth; meanwhile, the plates had remained "clean as a whistle" and needed no further attention. As a male "klutz" in the kitchen, this waffle iron has done wonders in polishing my image as an accomplished waffle maker.
Eurppean Voltage is 220/240 January 30, 2010 T. Carton (Enniskerry, Wicklow, IE) I have already reported to you that the Cuisinart Waffle IRON THAT ARRIVED WAS SUITABLE ONLY FOR AMERICAN VOLTAGE and therefore unuseable here in Irelamd. For this reason my purchase is useless. Please contact the suppliers Beach Camera . Tom Carton
non-stick coating peels off January 26, 2010 Nick 19 (Chicago, IL United States) It looks nice, but just like the waffle maker that I bought for $11 from Walmart, this one has its non-stick coating peeling off... So it looks like this is a $10 waffle maker in a stainless steel box, to make it look better...
great waffles at first January 10, 2010 Bruce James Madden (Albuquerque, NM) We have been making waffles every other week for years. When first purchased, after a short break-in period, this waffle maker was great. After a few years, sticking started to be a problem which became worse over the last year. Finally, we had to abort a waffle breakfast because of severe sticking. Close inspection showed that the Teflon coating on the plates was peeling off. I hope no one got a waffle with that "supplement". I did notice that the coating was quite thin. Maybe you should only expect to get about a hundred batches from a Teflon iron before replacement, but I really hate to participate in a disposable economy.
