Great potential for perfect waffle maker June 5, 2010 Kelly (Texas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like others, I read and was blown away by the numerous highly rated reviews of this waffle maker. Our UNO had finally given up the ghost after many moons of Daddy breakfast waffles. We decided to take the plunge ($200 for a residential waffle maker is a plunge by our standards) and buy the Kitchenaid. From the opening of the box until the first set of waffles, we were VERY pleased. This machine is really well suited for mass waffleage! It is big and you need to consider that before purchasing. It is also heavy, so consider that as well. I liked the timer, build, two waffles at a time and theoretically, the auto shutoff. Herein lies the reason for three stars. We made our batch of waffles and left for the day. The waffle maker was turned off. No lights were on. When we returned, the house smelled odd and I realized the waffle machine was on and burning full power. Still, no lights on the machine. I heard a little hum, so I knew current was flowing. Of course, the machine was hotter than blazes which was a better indicator it was on after 12 hours of no one at home. I have since tried some experiments and essentially, the off button does not turn it off, nor does the auto shutoff circuit work. You must unplug our machine for it to turn off. Although this is how we usually work our waffle makers, we have never had one with an on-off button so I expect it to perform as stated in the manual. I have now seen other reviews with the same problem, so this is not isolated. Other than this, this machine works great. I will also point out the waffles are huge. Get ready to overfill yourself or split them with a neighbor! We did not buy another since it seemed that others were having the same problem. I bought the Calphalon and been really happy with it.
Excellent! A master appliance! April 30, 2010 David B (Hartford, CT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My wife and I were very interested in buying a waffle maker, so we looked about retail stores, but nothing really hit the spot. I decided to look at Amazon and, behold, this one jumped out at me. Sure, it is a bit pricey, but the reviews were glowing so we went ahead. The shipping was fast and we excitedly opened it up. That night, we followed one of the recipes and fed everyone waffles for dinner. What a work of art this waffle baker (not maker, LOL) is! Heats fast, very easy to use, the timer is great and it makes the perfect Belgium waffle. Great to use! Easy to clean also.
Not about the waffle baker itself, but really, a half of a waffle is really only what one should eat. If you use one of the receipes in the KitchenAid book, try it will egg substitute and/or light margarine - it would help with the fat and cholesterol count!
It's Worth Every Cent... April 24, 2010 Lorna J. Loomis (Ottawa, Ontario Canada) It's hard to believe that the KitchenAid Proline Waffle baker is as good as it is...without owning one! I finally bit the bullet and ordered mine, after drooling over all the reviews!
It's everything the reviewers say it is...it's simply the best! This is as good as it's ever going to get, waffle maker wise. I have owned several less expensive waffle makers and I can't recommend this one highly enough.
It's awesome and so are the results! Order with confidence and enjoy the easiest and fastest waffles you've ever made and the best you've ever tasted. Don't forget to buy the whipping cream for the whipped cream maker. You're going to need both of these, too!
Best Waffle maker ever! April 21, 2010 Starlene L. Grochowicz (Tacoma, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had told myself that I better write a review since there weren't many out there when I bought mine a little over a year ago. If you are looking for restaurant quality waffles that you can make at home with regular pancake mix (we use Krusteax) this is the waffle maker for you! It took 3 months for my order to come through, but it is well worth it! We have taken our waffle maker to brunches with friends and made waffles for all and we've had multiple brunches at our house. We use it at least 1 to 2 times per month. It is a very high quality product with rock solid construction. We tried blueberries in the batter once, and that didn't work so well. I'd stick to putting berries on after the fact and make sure you have enough oil in the batter so that the waffles are easier to get out.
It's A Keeper! April 4, 2010 J. Nowicki (Bay City, Michigan United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We think this is one of our best kitchen small appliance purchases.
Easy to operate, easy to clean, easy to satisfy the pickiest of waffle eaters.
While we enjoy feasting on the the delicious Belgium waffles,
our grandchildren practically inhale theirs and ask for more!
Well worth the price for two at a time delicious waffles in under 4 minutes.
The KitchenAid Proline waffle Maker performs giving consistent excellent results.
